The YMCA Columbia Swim
Club was formed in 1999 and competes in both USA Swimming and the
YMCA swim leagues. Our goal is to train and develop age group
swimmers in accordance with the mission of the YMCA. We also
encourage swimmers to reach their potentials through the YMCA core
values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
Become a part of our swim team family and enjoy our convenient
practice schedule as well as other team functions.
Mission
Statement
To put Christian
principles into practice through programs that build a healthy
spirit, body, and mind for all.
Vision
Competitive swimming
builds character. Instills discipline, provides leadership,
enhances self-esteem, promotes physical fitness and teaches
teamwork, all of which can be used throughout a
lifetime.
Team
Philosophy
The Columbia YMCA Swim
Club's (YCSC Mudcats) philosophy is to teach the swimmers how to
set long and short-term goals while practicing Honesty, Respect,
Responsibility, and Caring. Through participation of the Bronze,
Silver, and Gold groups, the swimmer gains knowledge of the four
competitive strokes, learns the starts and turns for each stroke,
and gains experience by competing on a swim team. The Junior and
Senior groups work to achieve goals such as gaining mastery of
strokes, turns, starts, and to improve their times by learning how
to improve their fitness and health. We also like to have
fun!!!
